Habitats
Swim with Dolphins in Tulum is safe because the Dolphinaris are cared for, trained, and meet guests in the saltwater lagoon with a system that filters the water 16 times per day. The lagoon has movable sections and gates, allowing dolphins to interact with each other (dolphins have preferred companions) and guests in a controlled way.
Swim with Dolphins in Cancun will also be safe because the dolphins there have access to sun and shade, and live in water depths comparable to what they would experience in their natural habitat.
Experience
During all experiences, you can ask the trainer questions about the dolphins and their habitat.
Dolphin Land Experience
You don’t have to get in the water or wear a swimsuit or wetsuit. You will stand by the pool and meet dolphins. The trainer will allow participants to touch the dolphin, explain how to give commands, and encourage them to allow the dolphin to plant a wet kiss on them. You may get a little splash.
Dolphin Swimming Experience
A swimsuit is required. You’ll dip into a swimming pool around waist-deep water to interact with the dolphins and provide positive reinforcement.
Deluxe Dolphin Swim Experience
Your mask will allow you to get close to the dolphins underwater. Access to the beach club is included in this package.
Dolphin Trainer Experience
Behind-the-scenes tour. In addition to the standard swimming experience, you’ll feed dolphins and participate in enrichment through play and contact. This program is the longest of all experiences and is available to those aged 12 and over. Access to the Beach Club is included in this package.
Human Element
People can visit the facility by booking one of the packages above, but there are other ways to experience this unique attraction. A casual restaurant on the property allows guests to enjoy lunch and/or cocktails with stunning views. There may be tours or experiences going on, or trainers may work with the dolphins, or the dolphins may just be doing afternoon swims or having social time with each other. Guests who haven’t purchased an experience can dine here, as long as they meet a reasonable minimum purchase requirement.
At Dolphinaris Beach Club, you can relax in the heated hot tub and human pool next to the dolphin habitat, which has windows looking out over the dolphin lagoon.
Beach Club access is included with the dolphin and dolphin deluxe swimming experience or can be purchased as an upgrade to the dolphin swimming experience.
Have a company party or retreat? Groups of children aged 10, 90, or any age group in between can combine the dolphin experience with Beach Club access for a memorable event.
Animal Conservation and Welfare
Dolphinaris operates a foundation working in partnership with several universities, providing opportunities for students to study dolphin biology, physiology, behavior, medicine, and conservation issues for marine life.
The company also sponsors conservation studies that monitor ecosystems where dolphins live in the wild and how environmental changes affect dolphins and other wildlife. A portion of sales at Dolphinaris Arizona is donated to marine and marine life conservation.
Things to Know Before You Go
- Photography is not permitted during your experience. There are professional photographers on-site, and you can buy photos from them.
- No jewelry, hats, or sunglasses are permitted to be worn during the experience, as they pose a danger to the dolphins. Lockers for belongings are provided at no extra cost.
- All wetsuits, life jackets, and swim masks are provided by Dolphinaris Arizona.
- Remember that you may be with other people during your visit; non-exclusive travel. That means you can have quite a few people waiting their turn to touch the dolphins or personally interact with them. Orders are usually lighter on weekdays.
- The gift shop is a dolphin lover’s paradise! You can access the gift shop without paying a registration fee.
