Japan is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. We believe that you should travel to Japan at least once in your life. Nevertheless, the million-dollar question is what is the best time to visit Japan? Well, a priori we would tell you to take advantage of any opportunity to visit it, whatever the season. In the end, there is no ideal season for everyone, as everything will depend on your preferences.

TRAVEL TO JAPAN IN WINTER (December-mid-March)

The main drawback of visiting Japan in winter may be the cold. In general, the temperatures are not below zero and the cold is bearable. That does not mean that you do not have to dress warmly, but in general the cold is not extreme. However, if you want to explore Hokkaido and the north of the country, you will suffer a little more there. The averages are around -40 C although you can enjoy skiing.

VISIT JAPAN IN SPRING (mid-March to May)

Spring is the best time to travel to Japan. Most travel agencies promote the country with photos full of pink flowers. They are the flowers of the cherry trees, which create a beautiful picture in all the parks of the country. The Japanese come out to celebrate this time of year by having picnics with their loved ones under the pink-tinted trees. This beautiful natural phenomenon occurs at the end of March or beginning of April, depending on the weather conditions of each year.

TRAVEL TO JAPAN IN SUMMER (June to mid-September)

Summer may seem like the ideal time to visit Japan as we associate these months with good weather. However, in Japan we believe that this is not the case. Summer is by far the rainiest season, and while rainfall varies from year to year, it is likely to upset your plans more than once. Therefore, although you do not have to fall for the octopus as a rule, if you do not like the rain, it is clear that summer is not the time to travel to Japan.

The summer months are usually very hot and humid. With the exception of Hokkaido (to the north), minimum temperatures rarely drop below 20 C and can reach up to 40 C. If you are looking for a more pleasant climate, try to spend as much time as possible in the Japanese Alps as the climate there is milder.

VISIT JAPAN IN AUTUMN (mid-September to early December)

Most tourists visit Japan during the spring to see the cherry blossoms, but we believe that autumn has nothing to envy. Getting to know the country dyed in autumn colors is a precious experience. In addition, it is a somewhat calmer and more comfortable season. Although the reddening of leaves is a very popular season, it is not as popular as Hanami. However, we advise you to book the hotels as far in advance as possible to get better prices and have availability in the desired places. If you want to get to know the country without the crowds, it may not be the best time to travel to Japan either.
